A perfect wedding gown for an autumn wedding would preferably be made of heavy silk or satin. If the marriage, takes place in a northern country or hill-station, it becomes compulsory to select a more substantial material for the gown. A silk gown with long sleeves and a high neck or a halter style, which covers the chest nicely, might greatly help in defying the chill. If the preference of gown has very little fabric on top like thin straps, one bare shoulder or maybe is a strapless one with a bodice, a supplementary smartly designed and decorated bolero with ¾ sleeves becomes a must.
Don’t forget, that most churches are quite cold during the fall season and even if the wedding is performed in a hotel or resort, there will be times when a bolero or short jacket will be indispensable. If the idea of a bolero or short coat is not suitable to the mind of a bride-to-be, there are other possibilities like stoles of various soft and warming materials (like lace backed with woollen fabric, knitted or crocheted shawls of excellent wool or a cape-like garment to cover up the exposed parts during the transition from car to church or hotel and back will be quite suitable.
If a civil wedding is planned, it is easier to prepare for a fall wedding dress. A civil ceremony usually happens indoors, and public offices are generally heated in cold climates, and the environment is not cold on the plains of a subtropical country. In a civil wedding, the bride may also not have the same urge to wear a long or tea-length white gown for the occasion because there is no established tradition for that. A lot of other varieties can be worn, even if a fashionable style might be on the wish list. In a civil wedding a coat, cape or thick wrapper can be worn during the transition from outdoor to the indoor venue. A knee-long dress can even be supplemented by tight-high boots with heels as an accessory. In the West, it has become common that the bride wears white pant nowadays. Scarves and stoles are also typical. Wearing a deeper color of pink, green or lilac, for an autumn wedding is quite acceptable for a civil marriage, even if it is the first wedding.
